Diraaya (دراية) is a research and strategic advisory built around a particular kind of understanding. Our name suggests more than simply knowing of something; it speaks to an understanding developed through close attention—shaped by context, experience, critical inquiry, and an awareness of the assumptions we bring.
This distinction informs how we work. We do not treat context as background or arrive with ready-made answers. We listen closely, question our own frames, and work with partners to understand how people, institutions, histories, and systems interact. The result is research and strategy that are rigorous, grounded, and useful—insight that helps partners see more clearly, make better decisions, and act with purpose.

Knowledge grows

Diraaya began in conversation among three founding partners whose lives and work had been shaped across cultures, languages, and institutions. Each had learned to move between contexts—and to notice what becomes visible, what can be lost, and what may be transformed in that movement. During their postgraduate study at the University of Cambridge, they recognised a shared commitment to research that is culturally attuned, grounded in relationship, and useful in practice. They formed Diraaya to bring this way of seeing into partnership with institutions and communities: to contribute, to build, and to continue learning alongside others.
